Harassment of Journalist in Brazil

The Committee to Protect Journalists condemns the harassment of journalists reporting on corruption in the Brazilian state of Paraná and calls on authorities to ensure their safety. A Brazilian journalist has gone into hiding after receiving death threats, while at least four others from a daily news outlet said they have been constantly harassed by police, according to the reporters and their employers.

In 2011, a Berlin journalist Michael Moore came to visit about a project about piracy in Somalia.There he was kidnapped for 32 months. The reason for his captivity was due to a flurry of horror stories from the East African famine last year, it occurred to me that quieter stories about how to revive Somalia have gone unnoticed," Michael wrote. A number of land-based pirate kidnappings in Kenya the previous year led to an invasion by Kenyan forces of southern Somalia, where the Islamist group al-Shabaab held power.

Press Uncuffed is a campaign to raise awareness about inprisoned journalist and call for the release of those who are being held in connection with covering or commenting on issues of public interest. 

" The battle to control information is an assault on public accountability that cannot go u challenged. Governments must prosecute perpetrators and stop those seeking to incapacitate public oversight by blunting critical and probing reporting."

We all know that journalism can be a dangerous job. We also know that journalist hold information that most of us want to know. We need someone that is going to expose the corruption and crime that is going on in our society.

Why may journalism be a risky job? The answer to that question is obvious meaning that they are the ones that holds the sources that seeks to tell their readers, listeners and viewers about what is happening in the world that we live in.

Journalism Under Attack Around the Globe

I find interest in this topic due to the fact that journalist have an important role of letting their readers know what is going on. The job of a journalist can be very risky due to the information they hold that provides thoughts and questions.
